Bleu Roi

PlusPlus Records

Listening to music and creating her own spheres of sound and color have been of great importance to Jennifer Jans aka Bleu Roi from a very early age. Her first experiences as a keyboarder were with the Basel band loft (now called we loyal), where she discovered her interest in the synthesizer. Soon she joined Mañana, another local band, and had the wonderful experience of working with a top producer, Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Björk, Dave Gahan), recording the debut album «Interruptions» at the Home Studios in Hamburg. This was followed by numerous concerts and tours at home and abroad (Germany, England, New York, Toronto). After Mañana decided to put a hold on things Jennifer Jans used this time to complete her Master’s Degree in Arts Management as well as to help build up the Indie Label Plus Plus Records.

Although there was not much space for her own performing during this time, she continued to work regularly in her home studio with her synthesizers, her computer and her many other instruments. The focus point was to find her own way within her deep involvement in music. It’s important to be ambitious, but also to accept the fact that not everything has to be perfect.

That’s what Bleu Roi is all about: dealing with what can be lost and then found again. It’s about connecting spontaneity and work on details. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s vibrancy – which is what royal blue stands for.
