Following the recent release of his 10th solo album, World Peace is None of Your Business, Morrissey revisits his golden era with Introducing Morrissey, a live concert film, originally released in 1995 and documenting the historic tour following the acclaim and chart success of the Vauxhall and I album. Morrissey took to the road in February 1995 for his first UK shows in over two years, performing to ever hysterical and devoted audiences in packed out venues. This hour-long concert, directed by James O’Brien, captures Morrissey and his band at the peak of their powers, shot over two nights at the iconic venues of Sheffield’s City Hall and Blackpool’s Winter Gardens during the British tour.
Before Rhino Entertainment unearthed and remastered the experience for digital release, the rare concert footage had previously only been available as a limited collector’s item on VHS.
The new DVD features 15 songs, highlighted by six tracks from Vauxhall, including UK top 10 “The More You Ignore Me,The Closer I Get,” three from Your Arsenal, as well as non-album single “Boxers”, and the B-side “Have-A-Go Merchant.” Yesterday Rolling Stone and NME unveiled a look into the rare, perennial fan favorite “Jack The Ripper” which you can watch below.
Introducing Morrissey is a beautiful visual reminder of the transcendent experience of a Morrissey concert, captured for posterity and now finally available on DVD.
