In Brief:

After releasing critically acclaimed albums, and developing game changing philanthropic platforms like Summit on the Summit, Kenna has returned with new music through his conscious innovations.

In this evolution of his music he has created a unique three-part movement of EP’s with a brilliant mix of multiple genres spotlighting alternative, funk, R&B, rock, and hip-hop meshed with electronic and an encyclopedic knowledge of pop melodies.

Imitation Is Suicide is a part of a greater 3 part series called Land 2 Air Chronicles.  This series is based on Ralp-Waldo Emersons “Self-Reliance.” The first of this series having already been released was titled “Land 2 Air Chronicles I : Chaos And The Darkness,” and had 3 songs (“Chains,” Kharma Is Coming,” and “What U Want”).

Imitation Is Suicide is officially titled “Land 2 Air Chronicles II : Imitation Is Suicide.”  Land 2 Air Chronicles III : Genius will be released in first quarter 2014.

The Land 2 Air Chronicles Series leads the closing of the 3rd Album for Kenna titled Songs For Flight.

The number 3 is a big part of this experience.  3 Chapters of Imitation Is Suicide, 3 Ep’s in the Land 2 Air Chronicles Series, and 3 Albums to complete the totality of the vision.

All of this leads to and is perpetuated by to Kenna’s fight against the clean water crisis and all of this music tells that story.

For Kenna, this new sonic presentation is all about bringing about change the way he knows how.  Through music.

Kenna is a Grammy-nominated musician, philanthropist and Chief Vision Officer and lead creative of the New Myspace. He was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he became friends and career-long collaborators with Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. Kenna expressed an interest in music when he first heard U2’s The Joshua Tree. That album inspired Kenna while studying singers like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, as well as groups like The Cure and Duran Duran.

Kenna has worked and toured with Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Mark Ronson, No Doubt, N.E.R.D and Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan, Mike Shinoda, Lupe Fiasco, Santigold, & Ashlee Simpson. He continues to create his own sound that has yet to be categorized and filed under any mainstream genre. He is defined only by his natural constitution to never be what you expect.

In addition to his musical pursuits, when Kenna learned about the global water crisis affecting his home village in Ethiopia, he decided to create the SUMMIT ON THE SUMMIT project.  In 2010 Kenna and his colleagues climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to bring attention to the water crisis. Kenna developed a transmedia platform and 19,340 ft website with a game engine for fans and followers to participate virtually with the climbers. This concept, rooted in social media, was the first of its kind.  The project generated 3 billion impressions, over 1,700 pieces of traditional press and helped bring clean drinking water to thousands of people in his home country.
