Country, God or the Girl
Critically acclaimed hip-hop MC/singer/songwriter and activist, K’NAAN, has announced his highly anticipated third album, Country, God or The Girl will debut October 16, 2012 through A&M/Octone. The album follows the release of his EP More Beautiful Than Silence, which was released earlier this year. The album features a diverse collaboration with some of music’s biggest talents—Bono, Will.i.Am, Nas and Keith Richards. Also included on the LP collection is the Top 40 smash and MTV VMA-nominated single for ‘Best Video with a Message,’ “Is Anybody Out There,” featuring Nelly Furtado, and his current up-tempo single “Hurt Me Tomorrow,” which continues to climb the Top40 chart. In addition to the release of the album, K’NAAN will take part in The Global Poverty Project’s Global Festival, a free-ticketed concert on September 29, 2012 in New York’s Central Park, alongside music heavyweights such as, The Black Keys, Neil Young and Foo Fighters.
While fans can expect the diverse sound that they have come to know K’NAAN for, on Country, God or The Girl, the artist also ventures deeper musically into pop, soul and reggae. K’NAAN continues his tradition of evocative, thought-provoking lyrics on this album, tapping themes of independence, positivity and fighting loneliness and social pressure. The upcoming album proves to be dynamic, highlighting the expansive sonic direction K’NAAN has explored writing and recording over the last year.
