Empire of the Sun/Pnau mastermind Nick Littlemore brings us Miss Velvet. With a musical background spanning from opera to dance music (reaching the top 5 Billboard dance charts in 2013), Miss Velvet’s vocals captured the attention of Littlemore who pegged her to explore a musical collaboration. Together they entered the studio and began to document her story and life through song.

“We started with vinyl, and must have listened to hundreds on that first day. We began at 2pm and went late into the morning — at least until 4am. Miss Velvet was born,” she says. “Seventeen songs later, we had translated my experiences into a story and, along the way, had produced a collection of material that spoke to us and was heavily influenced by the ’60s and ’70s.”

With the help of a team made up of Peter Mayes (of Pnau), Henry Hey (collaborator and player with David Bowie), Eddie Kramer (collaborator and producer for Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Carly Simon, etc) and Martin Kraft, Miss Velvet recorded multiple tracks, which will be released one-by-one.
